My career at Conrad Weiser

I don't know what to say but that my years with this team have been some of the best of my life. I spent hours a day with Pete, my coach, and my teammates sweating and working hard. I had a lot of fun and I'll always remember the work we put in together to win counties 3 years in a row and become repeat district champions. I was blessed with great teammates to train with and a great coach to teach me what I know today. Although I didn't perform as well as I'd hoped in my last couple of races, I know that I gave everything I had as a part of this group and although my high school career has ended, I still have a lot to go through. My running career is actually just beginning. Liberty will be a great experience for me. While I'm there though, I will always look back and remember the days with CWXC and know that my love for running originated with the Conrad Weiser Cross Country Team. I love you Clint, James, Nate, MnM, Ryan, P.D., T.J., Andy, David, Alex, and Pete. Thanks for all you've done for me. A lot of people leave high school and lose touch with all of their friends from back home. I know it will be different with you guys though. We've become so close over the years that it will be impossible to not be friends anymore. I'm glad I can say, you guys will always be my friends and family, and even though I'm leaving, I know I'll always be a part of CWXC.

Saturday May 22

Sadly my season ended today. I had a pretty awful day at districts. I didn't feel good for the last lap and a half and had nothing left to give. I don't know if it was because I was sick this week or I just had nothing to give. My season is over though and although I'm really sad about ending my high school career, it's nice to get a break and look towards college.

Friday April 23

Today we raced at Millersville. We started off the day by winning the 4 by 8 with a time of 8:19. It wasn't what we were shooting for but we still got the win. Pete moved me to lead off leg and I feel I did a pretty good job there. I split a 2:03 and started us off in the lead. I ran the mile about an hour later. I started off in the back and with 2 laps left I took the lead. I ended up placing first in 4:30 but only beat 2nd place by .07 seconds. It was a good race and I had a lot of fun. The rest of the night I had fun cheering on my teammates and having a good time.

Miles: 5

Saturday, April 17

I raced the 2000 meter steeple chase for the first time today. I think this is my new event. I beat last years race champion and I ran a 6:22.76. I was excited about my time because I felt like I could have gave a lot more. I never had raced it before and I didn't know what to expect. Because of this, I went out conserved and ended up crossing the line in first without really being that tired. It was a really fun race and I really want to race it again now. We ran the 4 by 8 then. We placed 9th and had a pretty terrible day. All of our splits weren't close to what we can do at all and it was overall just a bad race. We'll get them next time though.

Miles: 5

Friday, April 16

Pre race today. We did a couple of 200s to get speed in our legs and then I practiced hurdles for just a little bit so I could be ready for the steeple chase tomorrow morning. We are leaving tonight for Shippensburg and I'm really excited about my race.

Miles: 3

Thursday, April 15

Today Pete gave us the day off so just stayed home and relaxed.

Wednesday, April 14

Today was a speed day. WE did 2 200's, 2 600's, 1 800, 2 400's and 4 100's. It was an ok day. Pete just had us go at a tempo pace so we could relax and stay fresh for Ship. I ran with McClafferty and David for this workout and we were all very comfortable.

Miles: 5

Tuesday, April 13

Today we raced Twin Valley. We ran the 800 and I got 4th with a 2:02. I was pretty pumped with that time because I dropped 3 seconds off of my PR. McClafferty was flying today and ran a 1:57. He has gotten really fast and he is going to be a great teammate to run with for the rest of the season. I also ran the 2 mile. I didn't really do it that hard though because it was right after the 800 and I want to save for this weekend's meet at Shippensburg.

Miles: 5

Monday, April 12

Today we did regular pre-race. We are racing against Twin Valley tomorrow and we are all gearing up for the 800. We all want to hit district qualifying times and really crank out our speed. I'm personally shooting for a 2:00 even though my pr is a 2:05. I don't usually run the 800 but I'm really getting excited for this one.

Saturday, April 10

Today we did 18 400's. It was a really tough workout but I maintained a 1:06 pace for them. When we hit number 5 however we tried something different. We started by doing a 400 and then jogged 200 and went straight into the next 400. We did that 10 straight times and it was really hard. I was on the 1:10 for awhile but for the last 3 of the continous ones I dropped it to a 1:07. Then we had 3 left for the entire workout and we did those like we normally do. I went 1:06 again for all of those.

Miles: 5.5

Friday, April 9

Today we only did a perimeter and then lifted for awhile. A perimeter of our school is only about 2 miles and Pete really wants us to rest for tomorrow.

Miles: 2

Thursday, April 8

Today we did a really small speed workout. We did 2 200's and 2 800's. We want to save our legs for our workout on Saturday, when we are doing 18 400's. We did the 200's on the 32 and then did the 800's. I ran the first 800 in 2:10 but I really dropped on the second one. I don't know what happened but I just didn't have it.

Tuesday, April 6

Today we did a speed workout. We did 20 200's on the 30 second pace. I honestly felt terrible during this workout but I think it was still my best workout so far this season. I think this because I pushed through the pain and was on the 30 pace the entire time. I hit 31 a couple of times but I was still rather consistently on pace. After practice I felt terrible. I went to Pete's house an got a haircut and but he made me eat first to replenish my system.

Monday, April 5

Today was a pretty long day. I started out practice by running from my house to practice. Then we ran over to our down vert hill and did 6 down verts. The hill is .4 miles down hill. I went 1:43 for my 1st and 2nd ones. Then for my 3rd and 4th ones I went 1:46. The last two we decided to crank it up a little bit and I went 1:39 for each of them. Then we ran back to the school. I felt pretty good again today. Everytime I start to get a little bit tired I think about running at Liberty and running in the Olympics. Those two things are pretty good motivations for me. Nate drove me home and I did some pushups and situps. I did 100 pushups and 10 minutes of situps.

Miles: 12
Pushups: 100
Situps: 10 minutes

Today we ran about 5 miles. We just decided to pick random roads and run those so I can't really name the run we did. I felt great however as we ran. I honestly felt like I could just keep going for hours and I really wanted to race today. It felt great. Afterwards we decided to lift and I did 1 set of our circuit. I also did 5 minutes of killer abs in the weight room and then went home and did 5 more minutes of abs. I lastly did 40 pushups.

Miles: 5
Pushups: 40
Situps: 10 minutes

Today was a heck of a workout. We started out by doing a 2 mile warmup. After this, Pete had us do a half time farchlek. We started off going 6 minutes at race pace, then 3 minutes off. Then we went 5 minutes race pace, 2.5 minutes off, 4 minutes race pace, 2 minutes off, all the way down to 30 seconds of race pace. I felt really really good today and I felt like I was cruising through the rain filled day. During the workout, I kept thinking about making it to the Olympics and I also got the song "Sing a Song of Hope" stuck in my head. After we finished, I thought it was over but then my brother came and needed to do a workout. Pete had Nate, David and I do his workout with him. We did the same thing as before but we started at 3 minutes instead. I then ran back to the school and the workout was over. Overall, I think I did about 10 miles today. It was a tough day but I felt pretty good. At home, I decided to do some pushups and situps. I did 100 pushups and 15 minutes of abs today.

Miles: 10
Pushups: 100
Situps: 15 minutes

Monday, February 22

After a long winter of base miles, tempo runs, and down verts, I am finally starting to get ready for spring track. The winter was a long a dreary one, and we still have a bit left of it, but the spring time is right about here. Today, was what I considered my first workout of the spring season even though it isn't technically considered spring yet. We ran the bunker hill run today, however, we came back 422 instead of going back behind St. Daniels. The run was about an 8 mile run. Afterwards, we did our first circuit series in the weight room. Our circuit consists of 15 reps on the bench press, hamstring curl, arm extensions, squat, pull-ups, leg press, dumbbell fly's, leg curl, arm curl, and shins. We usually do two sets of this circuit but for the first time, we only did one set. Afterwards we did some killer abs, which is what we look to call them. At home, I decided to do some pushups and a couple more minutes of abs to end my day.

Miles: 8
Pushups: 40
Situps: 10 minutes
