Thursday, February 25

Today was a pretty long day. I started out practice by running from my house to practice. Then we ran over to our down vert hill and did 6 down verts. The hill is .4 miles down hill. I went 1:43 for my 1st and 2nd ones. Then for my 3rd and 4th ones I went 1:46. The last two we decided to crank it up a little bit and I went 1:39 for each of them. Then we ran back to the school. I felt pretty good again today. Everytime I start to get a little bit tired I think about running at Liberty and running in the Olympics. Those two things are pretty good motivations for me. Nate drove me home and I did some pushups and situps. I did 100 pushups and 10 minutes of situps.

Miles: 12
Pushups: 100
Situps: 10 minutes

Today we ran about 5 miles. We just decided to pick random roads and run those so I can't really name the run we did. I felt great however as we ran. I honestly felt like I could just keep going for hours and I really wanted to race today. It felt great. Afterwards we decided to lift and I did 1 set of our circuit. I also did 5 minutes of killer abs in the weight room and then went home and did 5 more minutes of abs. I lastly did 40 pushups.

Miles: 5
Pushups: 40
Situps: 10 minutes

Today was a heck of a workout. We started out by doing a 2 mile warmup. After this, Pete had us do a half time farchlek. We started off going 6 minutes at race pace, then 3 minutes off. Then we went 5 minutes race pace, 2.5 minutes off, 4 minutes race pace, 2 minutes off, all the way down to 30 seconds of race pace. I felt really really good today and I felt like I was cruising through the rain filled day. During the workout, I kept thinking about making it to the Olympics and I also got the song "Sing a Song of Hope" stuck in my head. After we finished, I thought it was over but then my brother came and needed to do a workout. Pete had Nate, David and I do his workout with him. We did the same thing as before but we started at 3 minutes instead. I then ran back to the school and the workout was over. Overall, I think I did about 10 miles today. It was a tough day but I felt pretty good. At home, I decided to do some pushups and situps. I did 100 pushups and 15 minutes of abs today.

Miles: 10
Pushups: 100
Situps: 15 minutes

Monday, February 22

After a long winter of base miles, tempo runs, and down verts, I am finally starting to get ready for spring track. The winter was a long a dreary one, and we still have a bit left of it, but the spring time is right about here. Today, was what I considered my first workout of the spring season even though it isn't technically considered spring yet. We ran the bunker hill run today, however, we came back 422 instead of going back behind St. Daniels. The run was about an 8 mile run. Afterwards, we did our first circuit series in the weight room. Our circuit consists of 15 reps on the bench press, hamstring curl, arm extensions, squat, pull-ups, leg press, dumbbell fly's, leg curl, arm curl, and shins. We usually do two sets of this circuit but for the first time, we only did one set. Afterwards we did some killer abs, which is what we look to call them. At home, I decided to do some pushups and a couple more minutes of abs to end my day.

Miles: 8
Pushups: 40
Situps: 10 minutes
